GameGune 2008 Q3 predictions

Howdy, just giving UGAME's blogs a try.

I by no means am a Q3 expert, I just happen to like the game and watching it, keep that in mind.

So... I assume 2 top placed players from each group move on, but since I'm not sure, don't blame it on me if I'm wrong!

Group A

Swedenfojji
Austrianoctis
Netherlands geo
Czech Republic Krysa
SpainApaje
Unsetterry

I guess it's pretty easy to see who goes through here. fox placed 2nd at Masters, probably been practicing his ass off, and without Cypher in the tournament, he is the top contender. noctis impressed me very much at Masters (I was expecting him to do well, but not that well) and just didn't made it by one missed RA jump. He will make it through.

Group B

Polandav3k
United States of Americaczm
Lithuania GUArd
Spain Phoenix
SpainApaje
SpainTimmy

czm looked to be VERY rusty at Masters. I mean, he wasn't hitting rail as he used to hit, not even close. Assuming that he has been practicing, I guess him and av3k will make it with no big problem, though Guard played nicely on LLL's cup.

Group C

ChinaJibo
Russianike
Netherlands draven
Netherlands vo0
SpainAllter
SpainPozi

I can't see either dutch men surpassing nike and Jibo. But I'm all up for surprises!

Group D

Russia Cooller
Swedenspart1e
Spain Sl1p
Spain Doce
Unsetbreak

Don't really know how (or if!) Cooller has been playing, but I'm sure he will put up good games. spart1e's game looked really sharp at LLL's cup and I don't think any spanish guy will pose a threat.

Everything should go according the seeds, only surprises that can maybe happen will be on groups B or C.

Final standings

As I don't know how brackets will cross (man, GameGune has a history in this, specially with CS), I'll just post my top 4 for the tournament:

  1. Swedenfojji
  2. Polandav3k
  3. Russia Cooller / ChinaJibo

Notes: If Cooller's in top shape he'll place 1st as qlr is qlr. nike might place top3 for sure.

Nice write up. A professional quake pundit, you are. I agree with your predictions, too.

Toss up between czm, Cooller, Nike and Fox.. Gotta remember czm has been PRACTICING more.. Wasn't in great shape for Masters

Yeah, knowing how czm is, I bet he more than anyone wants to redeem himself after the Masters' performance.

I totally agree with your predictions.
Only upset I see is vo0 getting through the group. He didnt play bad on ESWC, winning a map against every opponent, and knowing Sander he probably has been practising alot.

Yeah, but he got unlucky getting nike and Jibo on his group. As much as he has been practicing I just can't see him performing better than any of them :\
